Foes of a Minimum Wage Guard
A impactful solo play about a senior citizen's crusade against aging and racial discrimination in the chaotic retail store.

This 65 minute show is about Steve Smelly, an elderly security guard who is reassigned against his will to a loss prevention detective due to a departmental shortage. If he fails to stop shrink, he faces termination by a hard nosed district manager.
​
In this show where Ken portrays 12 different humorous characters, the main character's age struggles as an underappreciated worker resonate strongly with the working class, making the story relatable and impactful. The obstacles face by protagonist Steve Smelly speaks to the life experiences of those in the labor force struggling to get by.

This award winning solo show was selected for 2025 Off-Broadway's United Solo Theatre Festival in New York City, the largest solo theatre festival in the world! The play is the recipient of the 2024 grant awards from the Springfield Cultural Council, the Chicopee Cultural Council, and a 2025 Agawam Cultural Council grant prize.
